Big Walnut High School hosts Annual Seniors Honors Night

In past years, Big Wal­nut High School’s Hon­ors Night included recog­ni­tion of under­class mem­ber achieve­ments; but on Mon­day, May 21, Big Wal­nut High School staff, admin­is­tra­tion, stu­dents and fam­i­lies gath­ered in the high school audi­to­rium for the school’s Sec­ond Annual Senior Hon­ors Night.

Skip Weiler pre­sented Robert Weiler Com­pany Weiler North­Star Schol­ar­ships to Kather­ine Berger, Ann Marie DePauw, Ryan Schmidt, Aaron Shaw and Jes­sica Stayton.

Mar­lene A. Casini, Pres­i­dent, Com­mu­nity Foun­da­tion of Delaware County, pre­sented the Manos Schol­ar­ship to Alexis Blaylock.

Delaware County Sher­iff Wal­ter Davis pre­sented the Sher­iff Wal­ter L. Davis, III Fam­ily Schol­ar­ship to Selena Stew­art; and the Sher­iff Wal­ter L. Davis, III Fam­ily Schol­ar­ship to Con­nor Moran.

Jack Shel­ton of Big “O” Refuse awarded the Big “O” Schol­ar­ship to Emily Asher.

Rick Eyman, Sun­bury Lions Club Pres­i­dent, pre­sented 2012 Sun­bury Lions Club We Serve Schol­ar­ships to Cal­lie Car­i­oti, Jes­sica Stay­ton and Megan Walters.

John Hohl, Sunbury/Galena Rotary Incom­ing Pres­i­dent, pre­sented 2012 Sunbury/Galena Rotary Schol­ar­ships to Kather­ine Berger, Vic­to­ria Lawyer, Rus­sell McMurry, Aaron Shaw and Calen Williams.

Genoa Town­ship Busi­ness Asso­ci­a­tion Pres­i­dent Tom Gard­ner pre­sented the GTBA Schol­ar­ship to Emily Johnson.

United States Marine Corps Staff Sgt. Leiter, pre­sented the USMC Scholas­tic Excel­lence Award to Sean McVay, and the USMC Sem­per Fidelis Award for Music Excel­lence to Nicole Thomas.

Each year, the Big Wal­nut Edu­ca­tion Foun­da­tion awards schol­ar­ship money to Big Wal­nut stu­dents. Some of the monies are gen­er­ated by the foundation’s annual golf out­ing fundraiser; other monies are endow­ment monies entrusted to the foundation.

Big Wal­nut Edu­ca­tion Foun­da­tion Con­tin­u­ing Col­lege Schol­ar­ships were awarded to Cameron Daugh­erty, Lydia Seabrook, Brit­tany Her­bert, Bryan Town­ley, Tabatha Piper, Devin Trainer and Elena Watson.

Pey­ton Con­tin­u­ing Col­lege Schol­ar­ships were awarded to Chelsea Bai­ley, Brit­tany Bok, Joey Col­lard and Brian Coth­ern; and Mul­ti­plas­tics Con­tin­u­ing Col­lege Schol­ar­ships were awarded to Julia Evans, Ari­anna Grimm, Aaron Hale and Tay­lor Jonard.

Big Wal­nut Edu­ca­tion Foun­da­tion Bronze Eagle Schol­ar­ships were awarded to Zacharia Harper, Ronald Mick­ley and Kristin Rob­bins; a Wayne W. Davis Golden Eagle Schol­ar­ship was awarded to Kali Pace; and a Dr. Dean Back­iewicz Golden Eagle Schol­ar­ship went to Brea Medlock.

Fra­ter­nal Order of Eagles Golden Eagle Schol­ar­ships were awarded to Haley Bishop and Kayla Dun­can; Shidecker Golden Eagle Schol­ar­ships were awarded to Traci Ish­ler, Kevin McMains, Rus­sell McMurry, Bree Sawyers and Aaron Shaw; and Fra­ter­nal Order of Eagles Plat­inum Eagle Schol­ar­ships were awarded to Shelby Coul­ter and Kather­ine Durr.

Shidecker Plat­inum Eagle Schol­ar­ships were awarded to Megan Amos, Tyler Beam, Kather­ine Berger, McKen­zie Cel­lar, Mar­cus Lacy, Zach­ery Mason, Ash­leigh Mills, Con­nor Moran, Emily Petty, Ryan Schmidt, Patrick Sewalk, Jes­sica Stay­ton, Kait­lyn Vazquez and Jared Watkins.

DKLM Real­tor Schol­ar­ships were awarded to Tara Fra­zier and Megan Wal­ters; the John Scan­lan Memo­r­ial Bronze Eagle Schol­ar­ship was awarded to Cam­don Corzatt; the Mazzi Fam­ily Plat­inum Eagle Schol­ar­ship was awarded to Grant Beam; and Brandi Grif­fin Memo­r­ial Schol­ar­ships were awarded to Brit­tany Evans and Calen Williams.

A Delaware Area Career Pass­port was awarded to Kelly Krist; a Big Wal­nut Soc­cer Asso­ci­a­tion Schol­ar­ship of Excel­lence was awarded to Zach­ery Mason

Amanda Meade received a Big Wal­nut Girls Soft­ball Asso­ci­a­tion Schol­ar­ship; Emily John­son received a Mary E. & Wal­ter C. Rybolt Schol­ar­ship; and Hylen Soud­ers Ele­men­tary Schol­ar­ships were awarded to Zach­ery Black­burn, Cal­lie Car­i­oti, Rebekah Con­klin, Emily Fias­coni and Con­nor Moran.
