Big Walnut High School hosts Annual Seniors Honors Night

In past years, Big Walnut High School’s Honors Night included recognition of underclass member achievements; but on Monday, May 21, Big Walnut High School staff, administration, students and families gathered in the high school auditorium for the school’s Second Annual Senior Honors Night.
Skip Weiler presented Robert Weiler Company Weiler NorthStar Scholarships to Katherine Berger, Ann Marie DePauw, Ryan Schmidt, Aaron Shaw and Jessica Stayton.
Marlene A. Casini, President, Community Foundation of Delaware County, presented the Manos Scholarship to Alexis Blaylock.
Delaware County Sheriff Walter Davis presented the Sheriff Walter L. Davis, III Family Scholarship to Selena Stewart; and the Sheriff Walter L. Davis, III Family Scholarship to Connor Moran.
Jack Shelton of Big “O” Refuse awarded the Big “O” Scholarship to Emily Asher.
Rick Eyman, Sunbury Lions Club President, presented 2012 Sunbury Lions Club We Serve Scholarships to Callie Carioti, Jessica Stayton and Megan Walters.
John Hohl, Sunbury/Galena Rotary Incoming President, presented 2012 Sunbury/Galena Rotary Scholarships to Katherine Berger, Victoria Lawyer, Russell McMurry, Aaron Shaw and Calen Williams.
Genoa Township Business Association President Tom Gardner presented the GTBA Scholarship to Emily Johnson.
United States Marine Corps Staff Sgt. Leiter, presented the USMC Scholastic Excellence Award to Sean McVay, and the USMC Semper Fidelis Award for Music Excellence to Nicole Thomas.
Each year, the Big Walnut Education Foundation awards scholarship money to Big Walnut students. Some of the monies are generated by the foundation’s annual golf outing fundraiser; other monies are endowment monies entrusted to the foundation.
Big Walnut Education Foundation Continuing College Scholarships were awarded to Cameron Daugherty, Lydia Seabrook, Brittany Herbert, Bryan Townley, Tabatha Piper, Devin Trainer and Elena Watson.
Peyton Continuing College Scholarships were awarded to Chelsea Bailey, Brittany Bok, Joey Collard and Brian Cothern; and Multiplastics Continuing College Scholarships were awarded to Julia Evans, Arianna Grimm, Aaron Hale and Taylor Jonard.
Big Walnut Education Foundation Bronze Eagle Scholarships were awarded to Zacharia Harper, Ronald Mickley and Kristin Robbins; a Wayne W. Davis Golden Eagle Scholarship was awarded to Kali Pace; and a Dr. Dean Backiewicz Golden Eagle Scholarship went to Brea Medlock.
Fraternal Order of Eagles Golden Eagle Scholarships were awarded to Haley Bishop and Kayla Duncan; Shidecker Golden Eagle Scholarships were awarded to Traci Ishler, Kevin McMains, Russell McMurry, Bree Sawyers and Aaron Shaw; and Fraternal Order of Eagles Platinum Eagle Scholarships were awarded to Shelby Coulter and Katherine Durr.
Shidecker Platinum Eagle Scholarships were awarded to Megan Amos, Tyler Beam, Katherine Berger, McKenzie Cellar, Marcus Lacy, Zachery Mason, Ashleigh Mills, Connor Moran, Emily Petty, Ryan Schmidt, Patrick Sewalk, Jessica Stayton, Kaitlyn Vazquez and Jared Watkins.
DKLM Realtor Scholarships were awarded to Tara Frazier and Megan Walters; the John Scanlan Memorial Bronze Eagle Scholarship was awarded to Camdon Corzatt; the Mazzi Family Platinum Eagle Scholarship was awarded to Grant Beam; and Brandi Griffin Memorial Scholarships were awarded to Brittany Evans and Calen Williams.
A Delaware Area Career Passport was awarded to Kelly Krist; a Big Walnut Soccer Association Scholarship of Excellence was awarded to Zachery Mason
Amanda Meade received a Big Walnut Girls Softball Association Scholarship; Emily Johnson received a Mary E. & Walter C. Rybolt Scholarship; and Hylen Souders Elementary Scholarships were awarded to Zachery Blackburn, Callie Carioti, Rebekah Conklin, Emily Fiasconi and Connor Moran.
