Daniel Scholl

Daniel Scholl, 99, Sun­bury, died Thurs­day evening May 3, 2012, at Coun­tryview of Sunbury.

He was born on August 27, 1912, in Hock­ing County to the late William Orin and Cora Edna (Brandt) Scholl. A grad­u­ate of Cro­ton High School class of 1930 and a mem­ber of the Grace Lutheran Church in Cen­ter­burg, Daniel had lived in the Olive Green area since 1955 and for a num­ber of years he was a 4-H advisor.

Daniel loved to fish either in his own pond or in Canada for wall­eye with fam­ily and friends. Daniel and his wife spent the win­ter in Ben­son, Ari­zona, and after her death he con­tin­ued going until he was 94, and when fam­ily would visit he was a great travel guide. Daniel and Juanita enjoyed trav­el­ing and went to Yel­low­stone National Park and the Grand Canyon. Daniel had a great love for farm­ing, doing so for 60-plus years and rais­ing dairy cat­tle, beef cat­tle and hogs.

He is sur­vived by sons Dane (Donna) Scholl of Sun­bury, David (Nancy) Scholl of Marengo and John Mark (Mary) Scholl of Colum­bus; daugh­ter Sharon Scholl Luft of Tulsa, Okla­homa; daughter-in-law Carol Scholl of Cen­ter­burg; by a brother, Mar­vin (Viola) Scholl of Sugar Grove, North Car­lina; and by a sis­ter, Helen Drotz of Mitchelville, Iowa.

He was pre­ceded in death by his wife, Juanita (Wil­son) Scholl, on Sep­tem­ber 23, 1987; a son, Richard Scholl on Octo­ber 10, 2011; by a brother, Jay; and by sis­ters, Esther and Annabelle .

Call­ing hours were held Mon­day (May 7, 2012) from at the DeVore-Snyder Funeral home Ohio 3 at 61, Sun­bury, where ser­vices were held Tues­day (May 8, 2012) with Pas­tor Chris­tine Widrig officiating.

Pri­vate inter­ment will take place at a later date.
