Daniel Scholl
Daniel Scholl, 99, Sunbury, died Thursday evening May 3, 2012, at Countryview of Sunbury.
He was born on August 27, 1912, in Hocking County to the late William Orin and Cora Edna (Brandt) Scholl. A graduate of Croton High School class of 1930 and a member of the Grace Lutheran Church in Centerburg, Daniel had lived in the Olive Green area since 1955 and for a number of years he was a 4-H advisor.
Daniel loved to fish either in his own pond or in Canada for walleye with family and friends. Daniel and his wife spent the winter in Benson, Arizona, and after her death he continued going until he was 94, and when family would visit he was a great travel guide. Daniel and Juanita enjoyed traveling and went to Yellowstone National Park and the Grand Canyon. Daniel had a great love for farming, doing so for 60-plus years and raising dairy cattle, beef cattle and hogs.
He is survived by sons Dane (Donna) Scholl of Sunbury, David (Nancy) Scholl of Marengo and John Mark (Mary) Scholl of Columbus; daughter Sharon Scholl Luft of Tulsa, Oklahoma; daughter-in-law Carol Scholl of Centerburg; by a brother, Marvin (Viola) Scholl of Sugar Grove, North Carlina; and by a sister, Helen Drotz of Mitchelville, Iowa.
He was preceded in death by his wife, Juanita (Wilson) Scholl, on September 23, 1987; a son, Richard Scholl on October 10, 2011; by a brother, Jay; and by sisters, Esther and Annabelle .
Calling hours were held Monday (May 7, 2012) from at the DeVore-Snyder Funeral home Ohio 3 at 61, Sunbury, where services were held Tuesday (May 8, 2012) with Pastor Christine Widrig officiating.
Private interment will take place at a later date.
