Howard Bell
Howard Bell, 80, Sunbury, died Sunday afternoon, June 24, 2012, at Laurels of Norworth in Worthington.
He was born on June 20, 1932, in Columbus to the late Harry and Elizabeth (Siders) Bell. He was a retired Maintenance Electrician for General Electric and a Korean War Navy Veteran. He had lived in the Sunbury area since 1979 coming from Columbus. He was a member of St. John Neumann Catholic Church and VFW Post No. 8736.
Howard was a Ham Radio Operator and had worked the Naval Mars Program in the 70’s helping servicemen contact their families. Howard enjoyed talking with people all over the world using his radios and computers to do so. He enjoyed mowing his grass as it gave him some time to himself to think and ponder on things going on.
He is survived by his wife of 55 years, Polly (Miles) Bell, they were married September 15, 1956 in Columbus; son, Michael (Sheri) Bell of Galloway; daughters, Deb Italiano of Columbus and Linda (Norbert) Tornes of Colorado Springs, Colorado; six grandchildren, five great-grandchildren; brother, Robert Bell of Lancaster; and by sisters, Margaret Bell of Douglasville, Georgia, and Betty Bendig of Newport News, Virginia.
He was preceded in death by a sister, Mary Hall.
Calling hours were held Wednesday (June 27, 2012) at the DeVore-Snyder Funeral Home, Ohio 3 at 61, Sunbury with a Prayer Service at 7:45 p.m. Mass of Christian Burial will be held today (Thursday, June 28, 2012) at 11 a.m. at the St. John Neumann Catholic Church, 9633 Ohio 37, Sunbury with Father Dennis Stevenson celebrant.
Interment will follow in the Resurrection Cemetery.
