Howard Bell

Howard Bell, 80, Sun­bury, died Sun­day after­noon, June 24, 2012, at Lau­rels of Nor­worth in Worthington.

He was born on June 20, 1932, in Colum­bus to the late Harry and Eliz­a­beth (Siders) Bell. He was a retired Main­te­nance Elec­tri­cian for Gen­eral Elec­tric and a Korean War Navy Vet­eran. He had lived in the Sun­bury area since 1979 com­ing from Colum­bus. He was a mem­ber of St. John Neu­mann Catholic Church and VFW Post No. 8736.

Howard was a Ham Radio Oper­a­tor and had worked the Naval Mars Pro­gram in the 70’s help­ing ser­vice­men con­tact their fam­i­lies. Howard enjoyed talk­ing with peo­ple all over the world using his radios and com­put­ers to do so. He enjoyed mow­ing his grass as it gave him some time to him­self to think and pon­der on things going on.

He is sur­vived by his wife of 55 years, Polly (Miles) Bell, they were mar­ried Sep­tem­ber 15, 1956 in Colum­bus; son, Michael (Sheri) Bell of Gal­loway; daugh­ters, Deb Ital­iano of Colum­bus and Linda (Nor­bert) Tornes of Col­orado Springs, Col­orado; six grand­chil­dren, five great-grandchildren; brother, Robert Bell of Lan­caster; and by sis­ters, Mar­garet Bell of Dou­glasville, Geor­gia, and Betty Bendig of New­port News, Virginia.

He was pre­ceded in death by a sis­ter, Mary Hall.

Call­ing hours were held Wednes­day (June 27, 2012) at the DeVore-Snyder Funeral Home, Ohio 3 at 61, Sun­bury with a Prayer Ser­vice at 7:45 p.m. Mass of Chris­t­ian Bur­ial will be held today (Thurs­day, June 28, 2012) at 11 a.m. at the St. John Neu­mann Catholic Church, 9633 Ohio 37, Sun­bury with Father Den­nis Steven­son celebrant.

Inter­ment will fol­low in the Res­ur­rec­tion Cemetery.
