‘Summer Letterbox Adventure’ back for fifth year

“Sum­mer Let­ter­box Adven­ture”, Preser­va­tion Parks of Delaware County’s award-winning fam­ily pro­gram, returns June 9 for a fifth sea­son. Chil­dren who reg­is­ter for the pro­gram will take book­lets into the parks to fol­low nature clues and find cam­ou­flaged boxes hid­den in six of the Preser­va­tion Parks preserves.

Par­tic­i­pants will have until August 12 to con­duct their searches, on their own time. Chil­dren who com­plete the project will be entered in a draw­ing for prizes donated by area businesses.

After the kick-off events, reg­is­tra­tion is ongo­ing at the libraries all summer.

In 2010, the Sum­mer Let­ter­box Adven­ture won the award for Best Fam­ily Pro­gram­ming from the Ohio Parks and Recre­ation Asso­ci­a­tion. This free pro­gram encour­ages fam­i­lies to spend time together, while explor­ing the var­i­ous parks Delaware County has to offer. Parks are open from 8 a.m. to sun­set daily.
