Area students visit Washington, D.C. area sites
Kyle Hack, Mt. Gilead, and Daniel Schuster, Centerburg, were among 35 high school winners from throughout Ohio and West Virginia who visited Washington, D.C. and other points of interest June 15–21 as part of Ohio Rural Electric Cooperatives, Inc.’s Youth Tour to the nation’s capital.
The week-long trip included a visit to the U.S. Capitol and other areas of historicala significance. The students were awarded the tour in a scholastic competition sponsored by Consolidated Electric Cooperative, Inc. of Mt. Gilead, a Touchstone Energy® cooperative. The sophomores and juniors joined 1,500 other rural youths representing 42 states.
As part of their tour of the nation’s capital, students met with members of their Congressional delegation, visited Arlington National Cemetery and attended a performance at the Kennedy Center for the Performing Arts.
Kyle is the son of Tim and Patty Hack and Daniel is the son of Kurt and Alice Schuster.
