Area students visit Washington, D.C. area sites

Kyle Hack, Mt. Gilead, and Daniel Schus­ter, Cen­ter­burg, were among 35 high school win­ners from through­out Ohio and West Vir­ginia who vis­ited Wash­ing­ton, D.C. and other points of inter­est June 15–21 as part of Ohio Rural Elec­tric Coop­er­a­tives, Inc.’s Youth Tour to the nation’s capital.

The week-long trip included a visit to the U.S. Capi­tol and other areas of his­tor­i­cala sig­nif­i­cance. The stu­dents were awarded the tour in a scholas­tic com­pe­ti­tion spon­sored by Con­sol­i­dated Elec­tric Coop­er­a­tive, Inc. of Mt. Gilead, a Touch­stone Energy® coop­er­a­tive. The sopho­mores and juniors joined 1,500 other rural youths rep­re­sent­ing 42 states.

As part of their tour of the nation’s cap­i­tal, stu­dents met with mem­bers of their Con­gres­sional del­e­ga­tion, vis­ited Arling­ton National Ceme­tery and attended a per­for­mance at the Kennedy Cen­ter for the Per­form­ing Arts.

Kyle is the son of Tim and Patty Hack and Daniel is the son of Kurt and Alice Schuster.
