Bobby Bogantz advances to USATF National Junior Olympics

Big Walnut High School incoming sophomore Bobby Bogantz, running unattached at the USATF National Junior Olympics Region 5 qualifying meet at Cedarville University, qualified for this week’s USATF National Track & Field Championships at Morgan State University in Baltimore, Maryland.
To earn his trip to the nationals, Bogantz placed third in the 1,500-meter run with a time of 4 minutes, 34.25 seconds; and fifth in the 3,000-meter run at 10:24.31.
During the 2011-12 school year Bogantz participated in soccer and was a member of the Big Walnut boys track and field team.
Other Big Walnut students who competed at Cedarville were Avery Kerns and Cole Stark in the high jump, and Kaden Thompson in the pole vault.
The USATF Junior Olympic Nationals opened on Monday and will run through Sunday.
