Self Defense Class for Kids returns to Sunbury UMC

Sun­bury United Methodist Church is again offer­ing a great oppor­tu­nity for chil­dren August 13 through 17. A national pro­gram called rad­KIDS, a per­sonal empow­er­ment safety edu­ca­tion pro­gram for chil­dren ages 8 to 11, teaches sev­eral prin­ci­ples of self-defense and tac­tics for chil­dren to use against var­i­ous types of assaults. This is a 10-hour course of instruc­tion and the goal is to reduce a child’s risk of becom­ing a vic­tim of crime. There is a min­i­mal enroll­ment fee of $10, which will pro­vide for a T-shirt, wrist­band and hand­book. Schol­ar­ships are avail­able upon request; no child will be turned away due to a family’s inabil­ity to pay.

Course dates are Mon­day, August 13 through Fri­day, August 17 from 11 a.m. until 1 p.m. in the church mul­ti­pur­pose room.

The enroll­ment and fee dead­line is noon Sun­day August 5, 2012. and is lim­ited to 15 students.
