The Delaware County 4-H Equine Team represented Delaware County at the State Horse Bowl Competition with the Junior and Senior teams both placing in the top five out of 60 teams at the Animal Science Building on the campus of The Ohio State University.
Coaches Debbie Manring and Betsy Dible helped to get the teams ready for the competition by holding weekly practices. Members of the team have spent the past several months studying and testing each other on their horse knowledge. A few days before the competition they played a fun game of Horse bowl Jeopardy and celebrated with a pizza party before the big day.
Both the Junior and Senior team placed top five out of 60 teams.
The Delaware County Senior Team remained the only team undefeated until the last two rounds where Delaware lost by only one point against Butler County, walking away with the Outstanding Reserve title. The Seniors were led by Aimee Dill as team captain, Abby Marshall in Chair Two, Clara Selle in Chair Three and Caleb Marshall in Chair Four
The Junior Team placed fifth out of 33 teams from across the Ohio with team captain Jacob Wenner placing first overall individual highpoint and Sydney Kuharik placing fourth. Team leaders were led by Allison Dible in Chair Three, Haley Savage in Chair Four, Kuharik in Chair Two and Wenner as Team Captain. Joseph Marshall as an alternate for the Juniors.
The Senior Team will be representing Delaware County in the Horse Bowl competition at this year’s All-American Quarter Horse Congress held in October at the State Fairgrounds in Columbus.
