Moving with the Spirit 5K set for Saturday, August 18

News Staff Reports

Registration is now open for the Third Annual Moving with the Spirit 5K Run/Walk. This year a percentage of proceeds will go towards Wounded Warriors, a national organization assisting soldiers wounded in battle and their families. As in the prior two years this race will also fund local projects include feeding, clothing and helping the people of our community.

The Moving with the Spirit 5K Run/Walk, scheduled for Saturday, August 18, begins on Sunbury Road, proceeds through a gated community, and finishes on Galena United Methodist Church grounds.

Moving with the Spirit also includes Kids Races of varying lengths for all children 11 and under, including a 1-mile run, making Moving with Spirit truly a family event.

New this year is the Big Walnut Grand Prix. Simply register and finish each of the included races — Moving with the Spirit, Run For John and Big Nut Strut — and you will automatically be entered into a drawing to receive prizes such as Frontrunner gift certificates, a round of golf at Bent Tree, Jerky from Virgil’s Jerky Plus, a year’s subscription to The Sunbury News and more.

The Moving with the Spirit registration fee is a modest $25 prior to race day for the 5k and $2 for the Kids Race.

For race details and a link to the Active.com registration go to the Galena UMC Facebook page at < facebook.com/galenachurch >.
