Thieves target more than 20 cars in Orange Township
Delaware County Sheriff Russell Martin is reminding residents to secure their vehicles after more than 20 thefts were reported from unlocked vehicles over the weekend.
All of the crimes occurred during the overnight hours of July 7 in the High Meadows Village and Green Meadows Village subdivisions in Orange Township. Victims reported everything from loose change, electronics and wallets containing credit cards and personal information stolen from the unsecured vehicles.
“No one person, neighborhood or community is immune to crime,” Martin said in a written release. “While it’s unfortunate that these thefts occurred in our community, it’s a reminder that criminals are always looking for an opportunity to commit a crime. We want to urge our residents to secure their vehicles, garages and homes while they are away. Leaving a vehicle or garage unsecured for only a few minutes could give a thief all the time he or she needs.”
Delaware County deputies currently don’t have any suspects in these thefts. County residents are being asked to remain watchful and report all suspicious activity to the Delaware County Sheriff’s Office at 740–833-2800.
