Big Walnut boys soccer boots Tri-Valley, 3-0

Big Walnut. scoring three goals in a 12-minute span of the opening half, ran its early-season boys soccer record to 2–0 with a 3–0 victory over visiting Tri-Valley Saturday at Golden Eagle Stadium in Sunbury.
Sophomore midfielder Adam Carifa opened the scoring with a show in the lower right corner off an assist by senior forward Austin Foor. The goal was set up by senior midfielder Shane Facemyer who gained possession of the ball at the top of the 6-yard box.
Junior forward Luke Hartings followed Carifa’s goal when he found the back of the Scotties’ goal for a 2–0 advantage. Junior defenseman Dominic Zumpone gained possession of the ball in his defensive half, crossed midfield and from 40 yards out sent a slot pass through the Tri-Valley defenders to Hartings for the uncontested score.
Sophomore forward Tyler Ledbetter closed out the Golden Eagle scoring, beating his man on the left wing and finding Foor’s foot for a well placed shot from just inside the 18.
Big Walnut held a 23–4 advantage in shots on goal to go with an 8–0 edge in corner kicks. Junior goalkeeper Tyler Sholl recorded the Golden Eagles’ lone save.
