Big Walnut boys soccer boots Tri-Valley, 3-0

Big Wal­nut. scor­ing three goals in a 12-minute span of the open­ing half, ran its early-season boys soc­cer record to 2–0 with a 3–0 vic­tory over vis­it­ing Tri-Valley Sat­ur­day at Golden Eagle Sta­dium in Sunbury.

Sopho­more mid­fielder Adam Car­ifa opened the scor­ing with a show in the lower right cor­ner off an assist by senior for­ward Austin Foor. The goal was set up by senior mid­fielder Shane Face­myer who gained pos­ses­sion of the ball at the top of the 6-yard box.

Junior for­ward Luke Hart­ings fol­lowed Carifa’s goal when he found the back of the Scot­ties’ goal for a 2–0 advan­tage. Junior defense­man Dominic Zumpone gained pos­ses­sion of the ball in his defen­sive half, crossed mid­field and from 40 yards out sent a slot pass through the Tri-Valley defend­ers to Hart­ings for the uncon­tested score.

Sopho­more for­ward Tyler Led­bet­ter closed out the Golden Eagle scor­ing, beat­ing his man on the left wing and find­ing Foor’s foot for a well placed shot from just inside the 18.

Big Wal­nut held a 23–4 advan­tage in shots on goal to go with an 8–0 edge in cor­ner kicks. Junior goal­keeper Tyler Sholl recorded the Golden Eagles’ lone save.
