Tickets now on sale for Senior Services Fundraiser
The Committee to Save Senior Services will host its 14th annual fundraising event on Thursday, September 6, from 5 p.m. to 8:30 p.m. This year’s Scarlet and Gray Soiree, presented by Manos, Martin and Pergram Co. will be held at Brookshire, 405 Greif Parkway in Delaware. Guests will enjoy a fun Buckeye-themed, tailgate-party setting with live and silent auctions, delicious food, wine, beer and non-alcoholic drinks, as well as entertainment and blackjack with fabulous prizes!
This event serves as the only annual fundraiser for the Committee to Save Senior Services. Every five years the Committee is required by Ohio law to go back to the public to renew or replace our local senior services levy. This levy provides approximately 80 percent of the funding for the local in-home and community-based services provided by the Council for Older Adults. The current operating levy was last approved in 2008, and this year’s fundraiser will again focus on preparing the resources necessary to run the Committee’s 2013 campaign.
Delaware County’s age 60 and over population is currently over 25,000 and, due to aging Baby Boomers, is expected to double over the next 10 years. With that unprecedented growth, the need for senior services will dramatically increase as well. Passage of the levy will enable the Council for Older Adults to continue to provide services such as Meals On Wheels, personal care, medical transportation, housekeeping, emergency response systems and much more, keeping older adults in their homes to avoid unnecessary nursing home placement.
Tickets are $25 per person if purchased by August 31, and $30 on or after September 1. They may be purchased at the Center for Older Adults, 800 Cheshire Road in Delaware on Monday through Friday from 8 a.m. to 5 p.m. Requests for tickets by mail may be sent to the above address with checks made out to the Committee to Save Senior Services. Tickets may also be purchased online at < www.growingolder.org > and will be available at the door.
