Hylen Souders Elementary School’s PTO is holding a series of Dine Around the Town fundraisers, with the first event — Dine Around the Town with the Galena Diner – scheduled from 4 to 8 p.m. this evening (Thursday, September 27).
“Twenty percent of all proceeds will be donated to the Souders PTO when diners come in with a flyer, dine-in and take-out sales are included,” said Souders PTO member Alaina Salonsky. “With fifth grade moving to the new intermediate school we only have 287 students at Souders this year, so it’s critical that we have support of the community for our fundraisers.”
Salonsky said the Galena Diner is known for its famous Broaster Chicken but also boasts a large, diverse and delicious menu, serving everything from omelets to wraps, salads to burgers, and frog’s legs to steak dinners.
“The children’s menu doesn’t include frogs legs, but does include a beverage and the variety of items will satisfy the pickiest eater,” Salonsky said. “Take the night off, don’t cook and treat yourself to a night out with your family; and while you’re enjoying a great meal you’ll also be supporting Souders’ PTO.”
Salonsky said members of the Hylen Souders’ PTO have partnered with other local restaurants for additional Dine Around the Town fundraisers.
“Each month the PTO has selected a different local restaurant that will donate a percentage of sales, with a copy of a flyer, to Souders PTO,” Salonsky said. “To participate all you have to do is enjoy a delicious meal with your family and friends, and present the flyer when paying your check. Supporting Souders has never been this easy.”
Flyers for each event are available on the school website. Go to < bigwalnut.k12.oh.us >, click on Schools, Hylen Souders Elementary, Dine Around the Town, Monthly Flyer to print flyers. A flyer will also be sent home in each Souders student’s folder and extra copies are located in office of Souders Elementary.
“Anyone can participate, and you can distribute flyers to anyone who will support our school,” Salonsky said. “But restaurants have specific dates and time for participation; and a flyer is required for donation proceeds to be returned to Souders PTO. Seating is first-come, first-served, and the fundraiser is valid on dine-in and take-out orders.”
Salonsky said if a patron forgets the flyer they can tell their server that they are participating in the Souders fundraiser and the sale will be honored.
In addition to tonight’s Dine Around the Town with the Galena Diner, future Hylen Souders Dine Around Town fundraisers will be held from 11 a.m. to 10 p.m. on Tuesday, October 16, at Mudflats Bar and Grill in Galena; from 5 to 10 p.m. on Monday, November 19, at the Firehouse Tavern in Sunbury; and from 11 a.m. to 9:30 p.m. on Thursday, January 17, at Fracasso’s Village Pizza on Ohio 605 in Center Village.
