Hylen Souders’ upcoming PTA Fundraiser easy to digest

Hylen Soud­ers Ele­men­tary School’s PTO is hold­ing a series of Dine Around the Town fundrais­ers, with the first event — Dine Around the Town with the Galena Diner – sched­uled from 4 to 8 p.m. this evening (Thurs­day, Sep­tem­ber 27).

“Twenty per­cent of all pro­ceeds will be donated to the Soud­ers PTO when din­ers come in with a flyer, dine-in and take-out sales are included,” said Soud­ers PTO mem­ber Alaina Salon­sky. “With fifth grade mov­ing to the new inter­me­di­ate school we only have 287 stu­dents at Soud­ers this year, so it’s crit­i­cal that we have sup­port of the com­mu­nity for our fundraisers.”

Salon­sky said the Galena Diner is known for its famous Broaster Chicken but also boasts a large, diverse and deli­cious menu, serv­ing every­thing from omelets to wraps, sal­ads to burg­ers, and frog’s legs to steak dinners.

“The children’s menu doesn’t include frogs legs, but does include a bev­er­age and the vari­ety of items will sat­isfy the pick­i­est eater,” Salon­sky said. “Take the night off, don’t cook and treat your­self to a night out with your fam­ily; and while you’re enjoy­ing a great meal you’ll also be sup­port­ing Soud­ers’ PTO.”

Salon­sky said mem­bers of the Hylen Soud­ers’ PTO have part­nered with other local restau­rants for addi­tional Dine Around the Town fundraisers.

“Each month the PTO has selected a dif­fer­ent local restau­rant that will donate a per­cent­age of sales, with a copy of a flyer, to Soud­ers PTO,” Salon­sky said. “To par­tic­i­pate all you have to do is enjoy a deli­cious meal with your fam­ily and friends, and present the flyer when pay­ing your check. Sup­port­ing Soud­ers has never been this easy.”

Fly­ers for each event are avail­able on the school web­site. Go to < bigwalnut.k12.oh.us >, click on Schools, Hylen Soud­ers Ele­men­tary, Dine Around the Town, Monthly Flyer to print fly­ers. A flyer will also be sent home in each Soud­ers student’s folder and extra copies are located in office of Soud­ers Elementary.

“Any­one can par­tic­i­pate, and you can dis­trib­ute fly­ers to any­one who will sup­port our school,” Salon­sky said. “But restau­rants have spe­cific dates and time for par­tic­i­pa­tion; and a flyer is required for dona­tion pro­ceeds to be returned to Soud­ers PTO. Seat­ing is first-come, first-served, and the fundraiser is valid on dine-in and take-out orders.”

Salon­sky said if a patron for­gets the flyer they can tell their server that they are par­tic­i­pat­ing in the Soud­ers fundraiser and the sale will be honored.

In addi­tion to tonight’s Dine Around the Town with the Galena Diner, future Hylen Soud­ers Dine Around Town fundrais­ers will be held from 11 a.m. to 10 p.m. on Tues­day, Octo­ber 16, at Mud­flats Bar and Grill in Galena; from 5 to 10 p.m. on Mon­day, Novem­ber 19, at the Fire­house Tav­ern in Sun­bury; and from 11 a.m. to 9:30 p.m. on Thurs­day, Jan­u­ary 17, at Fracasso’s Vil­lage Pizza on Ohio 605 in Cen­ter Village.
