Amanda-Clearcreek ends Golden Eagles’ volleyball season with 3-1 victory
News Staff Reports
Third-seeded Big Walnut’s Division II Central District volleyball run ended in a four-game 21–25, 25–13, 20–25, 23–25 setback at the hands of sixth-seeded Amanda-Clearcreek in last Thursday’s District semifinals at Worthington Christian Middle School.
Alexis Newman (17-for-19), Abby Painter (14-for-21), Natalie Chatterton (12-for-16) and Kylee Williams (10-for-10) led the Golden Eagles serving attack against the Aces. Morgan Alley was 9-for-11 and Claire Chatterton was 8-for-8.
Painter recorded a team-high 4 aces while Alley, Newman and Natalie Chatterton added 2 apiece.
Natalie Chatterton paced Big Walnut in kills with 12 followed by Kalynn Bowmar with 8, Painter 7, Alley 6 and Claire Chatterton with 5 kills.
“I thought our girls played hard and competed well,” Golden Eagle head coach Ron Lehman said. “Natalie (Chatterton) and Kalynn (Williams) hit well out of the middle, but our outside hitters were not very effective and that was our downfall. It was a tough way to end the season, but we had a good year in the OCC.”
The Golden Eagles, who finished 16–6 overall, captured the Ohio Capital Conference Capital Division title with a 13–1 record.
