Big Walnut’s Bethany Bogantz places 59th at Regional CC Meet
News Staff Reports
Big Walnut senior Bethany Bogantz closed out her high school cross country career by finishing 59th with a time of 20 minutes, 50.47 seconds at Saturday’s Division I Girls Regional Cross Country Championships at Pickerington North High School.
Bogantz qualified to the Regional by placing 15th in 20:30 at the District meet held at Watkins Memorial High School.
Olentangy Liberty and Olentangy Orange both competed as teams, but the Patriots and Pioneers failed to punch a team ticket to the OHSAA State Meet showcase. Liberty finished eighth in the 16-team field while Orange finished in the 14th spot.
Both schools will be represented by individuals, one from each school, as Pioneer senior Hannah Hartzell qualified ninth to advance as an individual with a time of 19:15.51 while Patriot sophomore Claire Wiles qualified with a 13th-place finish in 19:22.83.
The top 16 individuals not on a qualifying team earned a spot in the State finals which will be held Saturday at National Trail Raceway in Hebron.
