Big Wal­nut, record­ing a win on all five courts to run their sea­son record to 13–6, bat­tled their way past vis­it­ing Buck­eye Val­ley (4–8) in non-league play last Tues­day (Octo­ber 2) in Sunbury.

The best match was played at third sin­gles where Big Walnut’s Melissa Grooms bat­tled from behind to knock off Hana Hall 1–6, 6–2, 1–0 (10–7 in tiebreaker).

In other sin­gles action, the Golden Eagles’ Grace Coff­man bested the Barons’ Lynn Con­ley 6–1, 6–1 at first sin­gles while Bai­ley Sewalk han­dled Nic­hole Mullins 6–2, 6–2 set­back at sec­ond singles.

On the dou­bles courts. Big Walnut’s Emily Balaz and Blake Stenger teamed to take Amber Green and Becky Votaw 6–2, 6–1 at first dou­bles while Brit­tany Kizer and Cecily Nel­son paired to defeat Sarah Parker and Amanda Petrime 6–0, 6–2 at sec­ond doubles.

DUBLIN SCIOTO 5, BIG WALNUT 0 — The host Irish swept the Golden Eagles in the regular-season finale for both teams Mon­day at Dublin Scioto. The match, orig­i­nally sched­uled for Sep­tem­ber 27, was post­poned to Mon­day by rain.

In sin­gles play, Dublin’s Ban­sai defeated Grace Coff­man 6–2, 6–2 at No. 1; Xu held off Bai­ley Sewalk 6–3, 7–5 at No. 2; and Rai bested Melissa Grooms 6–2, 6–1. In dou­bles, it was Scioto’s Patel-Choudnary over Emily Balaz and Blake Stenger 6–3, 6–0 and C. Patnmatnasan-R. Pat­n­mat­nasan defeat­ing Cali Ford and Brit­tany Kizer 6–1, 6–1.

The Golden Eagles closed out their sea­son with a 13–7 over­all record and a 4–3 mark in the Ohio Cap­i­tal Con­fer­ence Cap­i­tal Division.
