BW’s Bethany Bogantz qualifies to DII Cross Country Regionals

Golden Eagle senior Bethany Bogantz has a date in Pickerington on Saturday.
Bogantz placed 15th with a time of 20 minutes, 30 seconds at last Saturday’s Girls Division I Section 1 District Cross Country Meet at Watkins Memorial High School, earning a trip to the Division I Regional Championships at Pickerington North High School. The top 20 individuals qualified to the Regionals.
The Golden Eagles, led by Bogantz’ performance, placed 11th out of 14 teams with 275 points. Teammates placing behind Bogantz were senior Stephanie Keller, 35th. in 21:31; sophomore Makenna Hemming, 65th. in 22:55; sophomore Hannah Seabrook, 80th., in 23:32; and sophomore Addison Shawver, 83rd. in 23:47.
The top five teams advanced to the Regionals, led by Hilliard Davidson which won the District title with 35 points. Also qualifying as teams were New Albany (84), Westerville North 98, Teays Valley (103) and Pickerington Central (135).
In the Boys Division I Section 2 District Meet, Big Walnut finished 10th out of 12 teams with 275 points. Senior AJ Barber paced the Golden Eagles, placing 36th. with a time of 18:03. Sophomore Jonathan Kahrmann followed in 48th place. in 18:23 with junior Jacob Oppenheimer, 59th. in 18:36; Bobby Bogantz,60th. in 18:37; and sophomore Jared Boseker, 72nd. in 19:18; completing the Big Walnut scoring.
Hilliard Davidson’s boys team joined the Wildcat girls with a District trophy, capturing the Section 2 title with 34 points. Joining Davidson with a ticket to the Regionals were fellow Ohio Capital Conference members Lancaster (59), Hilliard Bradley (99), Hilliard Darby (131) and Dublin Coffman (141).
