Piper unaninmous All-OAC First Team volleyball selection
Otterbein University sophomore Tabatha Piper was an unanimous First Team selection on the 2012 All-Ohio Athletic Conference (OAC) women’s volleyball team.
Piper, a setter from Sunbury (Big Walnut High School), narrowly missed out on OAC “Player of the Year” recognition after earning conference “Freshman of the Year” honors one year ago. She ranked fourth in the league with 9.4 assists per set, including an impressive 7.9 against regionally-ranked opponents. Her .359 hitting percentage would have been a league-best if she met the minimum requirement of four attacks per set.
Otterbein finished second in the OAC regular-season standings at 8–1 before winning its first-ever OAC Tournament championship Saturday afternoon, defeating Mount Union 18–25, 25–20, 25–22, 25–21.
The Cardinals plays Hope College in the opening round of the NCAA Division III Tournament Thursday afternoon in Grand Rapids, Michigan.
