Mark your calendars, Harlem Township Heritage, Inc. (HTH) has several holiday-themed, community events planned for December 14 & 15.
To lead off, on Friday evening, December 14, the Finnish made holiday movie, Joulutarina, will be shown at the Harlem Road United Methodist Church, 5546 Harlem Road, at 7 p.m. This movie is considered by most “appropriate for all ages” but does carry a PG rating for some thematic elements and brief smoking. The movie, which is the story of an orphan boy who became Santa Claus, was filmed in Lapland and promises some spectacular scenery. There is no admission charge for the movie and some light refreshments will be available.
Harlem Holidays Part 2 will happen on Saturday, December 15 when HTH will host a crafts, holiday, and other items bazaar at the Harlem Grange Hall, 12900 Center Village Road, from 1 to 4 p.m. If you’re looking for a holiday gift, that Harlem Township T-shirt you’ve put off buying, or, rumor has it, something delectable to eat, come visit this sale. We have about 20 vendors participating in this indoor event.
To cap off the weekend events, once again HTH is bringing horse-drawn carriage rides to the Community Park, across from the Firehouse, Ohio 605 South, from 4 to 6:30 p.m. on Saturday, December 15. This year in, addition to the luminaries around the walking track, the Harlem Road United Methodist Church will have a live Nativity for riders to enjoy as they ride around the darkened field. HTH will once again offer hot chocolate and cookies in the shelter to those who come for this event and will have a bonfire where guests can get warm. There is no fee to ride in the carriage, but those coming are asked to bring a non-perishable item or money donation for the Harlem Township Civic Association’s Helping Hands group.
