Shelia Hiddleson named commissioner of Delaware Health District
The Delaware Board of Health has hired Shelia L. Hiddleson, RN, MS, as Health Commissioner for the Delaware General Health District.
Ms. Hiddleson has been Health Commissioner for the Champaign Health District in Champaign County, Ohio, since 2005. She will take over from Delaware Health Commissioner Frances M. Veverka, R.S., MPH, who is retiring after leading the Delaware General Health District for 31 years.
The Delaware Board of Health hired Ms. Hiddleson at its meeting on Dec. 4. Commissioners Hiddleson and Veverka will work together during an orientation period.
Ms. Hiddleson has worked in nursing and Public Health since she obtained a diploma in nursing from Jewish Hospital School of Nursing in St. Louis, Mo., in 1981. She has since obtained a Bachelor of Science in Nursing degree from Wright State University and a Master of Science in Administration from Central Michigan University, where she majored in Health Care Administration. She also has completed the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention’s Principles of Epidemiology course.
