Shop With The Delaware Sheriff’s Office continues tradition of helping children

Sher­iff Rus­sell L. Mar­tin is pleased to announce the con­tin­u­a­tion of the Delaware County Sheriff’s Office Shop with the Sheriff’s Office pro­gram. This char­i­ta­ble ini­tia­tive will pro­vide approx­i­mately 190 less for­tu­nate chil­dren through­out the county with an excit­ing shop­ping expe­ri­ence and life­long mem­o­ries. The Shop with the Sheriff’s Office pro­gram opened Sat­ur­day, Decem­ber 2, and will con­tinue through Sun­day, Decem­ber 16.

Shop with the Sheriff’s Office is an oppor­tu­nity for chil­dren in Delaware County to do some hol­i­day shop­ping for them­selves, at no cost to their fam­ily. The Sheriff’s Office thanks our spon­sors for mak­ing this event pos­si­ble. The Shop with the Sheriff’s Office spon­sors include Big Lots, Mei­jer, TJ Maxx and Wal-Mart. Not only do the chil­dren get to buy cloth­ing and gifts, but the stores pro­vide break­fast or an after­noon snack.

Groups of chil­dren will get assis­tance with their shop­ping from off-duty Sheriff’s Office employ­ees. “This is an oppor­tu­nity for chil­dren to spend some time with a mem­ber of law enforce­ment,” Sher­iff Mar­tin said. “It helps them gain a pos­i­tive under­stand­ing of what we do and that we are here to help them.”

Also help­ing with these events are cheer­lead­ers from schools within Delaware County.
