Shop With The Delaware Sheriff’s Office continues tradition of helping children
Sheriff Russell L. Martin is pleased to announce the continuation of the Delaware County Sheriff’s Office Shop with the Sheriff’s Office program. This charitable initiative will provide approximately 190 less fortunate children throughout the county with an exciting shopping experience and lifelong memories. The Shop with the Sheriff’s Office program opened Saturday, December 2, and will continue through Sunday, December 16.
Shop with the Sheriff’s Office is an opportunity for children in Delaware County to do some holiday shopping for themselves, at no cost to their family. The Sheriff’s Office thanks our sponsors for making this event possible. The Shop with the Sheriff’s Office sponsors include Big Lots, Meijer, TJ Maxx and Wal-Mart. Not only do the children get to buy clothing and gifts, but the stores provide breakfast or an afternoon snack.
Groups of children will get assistance with their shopping from off-duty Sheriff’s Office employees. “This is an opportunity for children to spend some time with a member of law enforcement,” Sheriff Martin said. “It helps them gain a positive understanding of what we do and that we are here to help them.”
Also helping with these events are cheerleaders from schools within Delaware County.
