13th Annual FurBall Charity Auction, Valentine’s Dinner to help HSDC on February 9

The Humane Soci­ety of Delaware County (HSDC) invites guests to attend the 13th annual “Fur­Ball Valentine’s Din­ner and Auc­tion” on Sat­ur­day, Feb­ru­ary 9 at the Medal­lion Club, located at 5000 Club Drive in West­er­ville. Pro­ceeds from this event directly ben­e­fit the home­less, neglected and injured ani­mals of Delaware County.

The gala opens at 5 p.m. and Dave Kaelin of WNCI’s “The Dave and Jimmy Show” will be serv­ing as the celebrity guest emcee. Dur­ing appe­tiz­ers and live piano music pro­vided by Terra McCan­ney, guests can meet exotic ani­mals from the Colum­bus Zoo (5 p.m. to 6 p.m.) and begin bid­ding on the many items avail­able dur­ing the silent auc­tion. Reflec­tions Event Group will be offer­ing free photo booth pic­tures from 5 p.m. to 7 p.m.

A spe­cial Valentine’s Din­ner (veg­e­tar­ian and non-vegetarian din­ners avail­able) will be served, along with assorted desserts pro­vided by Patty Bace and the Delaware Area Career Center’s Culi­nary Arts stu­dents, at 6:30 p.m.

After din­ner, guests will be treated to the “Dogs on the Cat­walk” show hosted by Dave Kaelin. Dur­ing the show, HSDC’s adopt­able dogs will take the stage with dog han­dlers from Ohio Wes­leyan University’s Pet Pals group. DJ ser­vices and show music will be pro­vided by Scott and Heidi Rice of Ski-High Pro­duc­tions, and Matt Zel­nik will be pro­vid­ing pow­er­point assistance.

At 8:30 pm, guests can bid dur­ing the live and reverse auc­tions run by auc­tion­eer Steve Green of Green and Green Auc­tions. Some of the live auc­tion items include: 4 Dis­ney Theme Parks Hop­per Passes, a VIZIO 42-inch Class The­ater 3D LCD HDTV (pack­age includes 3D glasses and 3D blu-ray/dvd player), auto­graphed sports mem­o­ra­bilia, and a 6-course cus­tom din­ner for 4 (pre­pared in your own home), and a Title Box­ing Club mem­ber­ship and box­ing start-up kit. These items, as well as a list of all auc­tion spon­sors and sched­ule of events, can be viewed on HSDC’s web­site at < www.hsdcohio.org/furball > .Fur­Ball tick­ets (sold online and at the shel­ter) are only $65 per per­son and include a free raf­fle ticket for the door prizes. More raf­fle tick­ets, includ­ing a 50/50 raf­fle, will be sold at the event. Seat­ing is lim­ited to 200 guests and will sell out fast. Please RSVP no later than Thurs­day, Jan­u­ary 31.

“The theme of our gala is ‘Love is a Four-Legged Word’ in honor of the joy and hap­pi­ness pets bring into our lives,” says HSDC shel­ter man­ager Heidi Myers. “Fur­Ball is our biggest fundraiser and the pro­ceeds from this ben­e­fit allow HSDC to pro­vide uncon­di­tional love to ani­mals in need. Last year’s event raised $22,000 and we hope our amaz­ing auc­tion items will help us raise even more dona­tions this year.”
