BW splits OCC mat matches with Heights, Watkins

Big Wal­nut split last Thursday’s Ohio Cap­i­tal Con­fer­ence Cap­i­tal Divi­sion tri­an­gu­lar wrestling match with Franklin Heights and Watkins Memo­r­ial at Olen­tangy Orange High School.

Luke Moore’s Golden Eagles, who split an OCC tri-match with Delaware Hayes and New Albany one week ear­lier on Thurs­day, Jan­u­ary 10, pinned a 44–24 set­back on the Fal­cons after drop­ping a 57–19 deci­sion to the Warriors.

In the Franklin Heights match Big Wal­nut scored wins in six weight classes. Golden Eagle vic­to­ries were recorded by sopho­more Donny Did­ion who recorded an 8–0 major deci­sion at 113 pounds, junior RJ Mar­tin with a 10–1 deci­sion at 138, sopho­more Tyler Sat­ter­field who scored a fall 2 min­utes, 49 sec­onds at 145, senior CJ Har­ness with a fall in 2:41 at 160, junior Alec Eisnnicher with a fall in 4:25 at 182 and junior Austin Crow who posted a fall in 2:18 at 220 pounds.

The Golden Eagles were awarded two for­feits at 152 (Austin Carr) and 170 (Evan Watkins) pounds. The 106-pound match was a dou­ble forfeit.

Against Watkins Memo­r­ial, Big Wal­nut scored four weight-class vic­to­ries. Junior Jhor­dan Lang joined Eisnnicher with tech­ni­cal falls, Lang post­ing a 15–0 ver­dict at 182 and Eisnnicher an 18–2 win at 170 pounds. Did­ion, with a fall in 1:12 at 113, and Carr, with a 6–4 over­time deci­sion at 152, com­pleted the Golden Eagles’ scoring.

Big Wal­nut returns to the mats on Thurs­day, Jan­u­ary 31, when they return to Olen­tangy Orange to take on the Pio­neers in a 6 p.m. OCC Cap­i­tal Divi­sion match.
