BW splits OCC wrestling matches with Hayes, New Albany

Host Big Wal­nut split last Thursday’s (Jan­u­ary 10) Ohio Cap­i­tal Con­fer­ence Cap­i­tal Divi­sion wrestling tri­an­gu­lar with New Albany and Delaware Hayes which was held in Sunbury.

Luke Moore’s Golden Eagles, win­ning 10 of the 14 weight classes, includ­ing four by for­feits, handed the vis­it­ing Eagles a 59–15 set­back. The Pac­ers claimed 10 weight classes, three by for­feits, in scor­ing a 58–20 ver­dict over Big Walnut.

Against New Albany, Big Wal­nut recorded five wins by falls. Junior R.J. Mar­tin scored a 16–0 tech­ni­cal fall at 138 pounds; sopho­more Tyler Sat­ter­field a fall in 1 minute, 35 sec­onds at 145; senior C.J. Har­ness in 5:36 at 160; junior Alec Eisnnicher in 1:51 at 170; and junior Jhor­dan Lang in 3:22 at 182 pounds.

Sopho­more Donny Did­ion con­tributed a 4–2 deci­sion at 113 pounds while fresh­man Wes Lan­drum, fresh­man Tyler Hogg and junior Austin Crow were awarded for­feits at their respec­tive 132-, 195– and 220-pound weight classes. Junior Austin Carr won by a med­ical for­feit at 152 pounds.

In the match with Hayes, Big Wal­nut cap­tured four weight classes. Mar­tin was awarded a tech­ni­cal fall by an 18–2 score at 138 pounds, Carr a fall in 5:16 at 152, Eisnnicher a 3–2 deci­sion at 182, and Crow by a fall in 1:55 at 220 pounds.
