Jordan to chair Senate Reference Committee

State Senator Kris Jordan (R-Ostrander) has been named Chairman of the Senate Reference Committee for the 130th General Assembly by Senate President Keith Faber (R-Celina). In this role, Jordan will be responsible for assigning bills to a Senate standing committee after their introduction.

“Committees are the workhorses of the Legislature, where both members and the people of Ohio have the opportunity to make their opinions known about a particular piece of legislation,” Jordan said. “I look forward to working with the members of the Reference Committee to ensure that this process is as smooth and efficient as possible.”

Senator Jordan was also appointed Vice-Chairman of the Energy & Natural Resources Committee. He will also serve on the Public Safety, Local Government & Veterans Affairs Committee, the Commerce & Labor Committee, the Medicaid, Health & Human Services Committee, and the Finance Subcommittee on Medicaid. Senator Faber announced a restructuring of the Senate Committees earlier this month to allow members the opportunity to delve more deeply into complex issues such as education and Medicaid.

Jordan is currently serving his first term in the Ohio Senate, having previously served in the Ohio House of Representatives and as a Delaware County Commissioner. He and his wife Melissa live in Ostrander.
