Rep. Andy Brenner appointed vice-chair of Education Committee
House Speaker Bill Batchelder announced that Rep. Andrew Brenner (R-Powell) has been appointed as vice-chair of the House Education Committee for the 130th General Assembly (2013–2014). In addition, Rep. Brenner will continue to serve on the Financial Institutions /Housing /Urban Development Committee and the Rules and Reference Committee. Speaker Batchelder also appointed Brenner to the new Policy and Legislative Oversight Committee.
“I am grateful to the Speaker for this appointment and his faith in my ability to serve the people of Ohio in this position. Reforming our education system so that every child receives the best possible education is of the utmost importance to me,” Brenner said. “ Working with Chairman Stebelton, Speaker Batchelder and Governor Kasich, I look forward to helping to shape reforms to positively impact our young people’s future.
Brenner was sworn-in on January 7.
As State Representative, Rep. Brenner received the 2011 “Defender of Liberty” award from the American Conservative Union and the 2012 Watchdog of the Treasury Award. Rep. Brenner voted to eliminate the death tax, balance Ohio’s budget without raising taxes, lower our taxes, bring jobs to Ohio, help make Ohio energy independent, help businesses thrive, protect the life of the unborn (including supporting the “heartbeat bill”) and protect the Second Amendment.
Rep. Brenner introduced legislation to provide more money for the education system in Ohio without raising our property taxes and to allow a private-sector solution to train people for open jobs in Ohio.
