They last for only a few minutes. They’re over in a virtual heartbeat, but children line up at Easter Egg Hunts everywhere in anticipation of that several minute thrill ride across lawns peppered with brightly colored Easter eggs filled with sweet treats.
And, if it’s the Saturday, March 23, Fraternal Order of Eagles Easter Egg Hunt on Sunbury Village Square, children stick around after the lawn has been swept clean of Easter eggs to see if they are lucky winners of a bicycle, this year with a little help from Meijer.
But to win a bike, participants must sign up immediately before the Easter Egg Hunt. Bicycle sign up is from 10 to 11:30 a.m. and the hunt begins promptly at 12 noon.
Sunbury United Methodist Church (SUMC) is hosting its ninth annual Community Easter Celebration on Saturday, March 23. The event is free and open to the entire community. Activities begin at 10 a.m. including “hare” raisin’ games, prizes, crafts, refreshments and a complimentary picture with the Easter Bunny.
Bunny helpers will also be hopping around with baskets full of free treats for the kids. Children one year old through fifth grade may register for the Easter Egg Hunt. Please enter the church through the upper main entrance to register for the Easter Egg Hunt by 10:55 a.m.
The Easter Egg Hunt begins at 11 a.m. Each age group will have their own area to hunt eggs. There will be plenty for everyone, and children will receive a free goody bag for prizes but are encouraged to bring an Easter basket to gather all their eggs in.
The Easter Egg Hunt will take place outside rain or shine, so dress for the weather.
Following the Easter Egg Hunt, you are invited to return inside for more games and to have your child’s photo taken with the Easter Bunny. All activities will end at 12 noon. For more information, visit the SUMC Web site at < sunburyumc.org > or contact the church office at 740–965-3813.
Genoa Township’s Easter Egg Hunt will be held on Saturday, March 23, at Westerville Central High School.
Festivities begin at 10 a.m. and include Genoa’s K-9 Gandolf, Police and Firefighters, Easter Bunny and Friends, Buckeye Bounce Houses, the Egg Hunt and 12 Easter Baskets for the lucky children who find an egg with a winning coupon inside.
The Egg Hunt will begin promptly at 11 a.m. Four color-coded areas will be roped off for children by age: 1–2, 3–4, 5–7 and 8–10. The egg hunt is for children only. Adults may help children only in the 1–2 year old area. All other areas should have only children of that age group in them (no adults or older children).
To volunteer to fill eggs and assist in event activities contact Linda Greco at 614–568-2022 or email < lgreco@genoatwp.com >.
Local children are invited to hunt Easter eggs, coins and treasure at Galena’s annual Easter Egg Hunt, Saturday, March 30 at Ruffner Park, located at 152 Harrison Street, in Galena. The event begins at 1 p.m. sharp, rain or shine.
More than 2,200 eggs will be prepared with 10,000 pieces of candy as well as pennies. The Easter Egg Hunt will be divided into age groups for infants-4 years old, 5–7 years old, and 8–10 years old. The 5–7 year olds and 8–10 year olds can also participate in a coin and candy toss; and ages 11–14 can participate in a Scavenger Hunt for 25 presidential dollars.
One child in each age group will be lucky enough to find a big egg that qualifies them for a special Easter basket prize. Children can visit with the Easter bunny and each child will receive a gift.
The Galena Special Events Committee organizes the event.
Members of Sunbury’s VFW Post 8736 host an Easter Egg Hunt on Saturday, March 30, at the Big Walnut High School Stadium.
