Piper named Second Team All-OAC at Otterbein
Otterbein University sophomore Tabatha Piper, a 2011 graduate of Big Walnut High School, has been selected to a Second Team berth on the 2013 All-Ohio Athletic Conference (OAC) women’s basketball team.
Piper, who was named the OAC “Freshman of the Year” in 2012, followed with her solid second collegiate campaign by ranking second in scoring with 9.5 points per game and tying for the team lead in rebounding with 6.9 rebound per game with Cardinal senior Hannah Day (Chillicothe).
Piper started all 27 games for the Cardinals and scored in double figures 11 times. She scored a career-high 20 points in just 26 minutes of action against Marietta College this past December.
Otterbein posted a 21–6 record and a second-place finish in OAC regular season play with a 14–4 record, eventually falling to No. 3-ranked Ohio Northern University (26–1) in the tournament championship. The Cardinals received an at-large bid to the NCAA Division III Tournament, their first bid in program history, and traveled to Greencastle, Indiana, for an opening-round matchup against Maryville (Tenn.), losing 68–61.
