Late Golden Eagle rally falls short as BW girls fall to New Albany

The Golden Eagles ran out of time against the host Eagles.

Big Walnut, trailing 38-22 after the first 24 minutes of play, caught fire at both ends of the floor in the final quarter last Friday night at New Albany.

The Golden Eagles dominated the host Eagles, outscoring their hosts 22-8 in the fourth quarter, but only to come up a basket short in a 46-44 Ohio Capital Conference Capital Division setback.

New Albany (7-4, 4-1 OCC Capital) was led by Mechela Cobb who tallied 13 points. Taylor Snook added 9 points while Ally Vendetti and Brooke Isabel contributed 8 points apiece.

Skylar Fleak paced Big Walnut (5-4, 1-4 OCC Capital) with a game-leading 17 points. Makenna Hammond joined Fleak in double figures with 11 points. Sara Petty added 7 points.
