FurBall Charity Auction and Valentine’s Dinner to Help Animals on February 8
The Humane Society of Delaware County (HSDC) invites you to attend the 14th annual “FurBall Valentine’s Dinner and Auction” on Saturday, February 8, at the Medallion Club, located at 5000 Club Drive in Westerville. Proceeds from this event directly benefit the homeless, neglected and injured animals of Delaware County.
The gala opens at 4:30 p.m. and runs until 9:30 p.m. Dave Kaelin of WNCI’s “The Dave and Jimmy Show” will once again be serving as the celebrity guest emcee. The Ohio Heartland Chapter of Sweet Adelines will be serenading guests as they enjoy appetizers and silent auction bidding. The Columbus Zoo and Aquarium’s promo animals will be at the event from 5 p.m. to 6 p.m., and the Reflections Event Group will be providing free photo booth pictures from 4:30 p.m. to 6:30 p.m.
A special Valentine’s Dinner (choice of chicken, fish, vegetarian or vegan) will be served at 6:30 p.m. An assortment of desserts will be provided by Patty Bace and the Delaware Area Career Center’s Culinary Arts students. Guests will also be treated to a special live performance by Joel Slaven’s Professional Animals featuring two pets adopted from HSDC among the animal performers.
At 7:45 p.m., Kaelin will kick off the “Dogs on the Catwalk” show sponsored by Delaware Pet Grooming, the Official Groomer of FurBall. During the show, HSDC’s adoptable dogs will take the stage with dog handlers from Ohio Wesleyan University’s Pet Pals group. DJ services and show music will be provided by Scott and Heidi Rice of Ski-High Productions, and Matt Zelnik will be providing powerpoint assistance.
Following the show, guests can bid during the live and reverse auctions run by auctioneer Steve Green of Green and Green Auctions. Some of the live auction items include the following: a variety of sports memorabilia including a framed, autographed photo of Joe DiMaggio and Mickey Mantle (donated by Steve Green); a five-course wine and food pairing for four served in the winning bidder’s home (provided by It Starts With a Grape and Tutto Vino); 18-holes of golf for four at Glenross Golf Club plus $150 gift certificate for Dick’s Sporting Goods; and a one-week stay at a vacation condo on the Island of Tierra Verde in Florida (donated by Ultra Blue Properties). These items, as well as a list of all auction sponsors and schedule of events, can be viewed on HSDC’s website at < www.hsdcohio.org/furball >.
FurBall tickets (sold online and at the shelter) are only $70 per person and include a free raffle ticket for the door prizes.
