Registration now open for 2014 STAND UP Leadership Camp

March 5, 2014

All Delaware County high school teens are invited to attend the 2014 STAND UP Leadership Training Camp March 22-23.

The camp will interactively educate teens on issues that directly affect their lives, such as alcohol, tobacco, other drug, violence prevention, media literacy, positive community change and physical fitness. The camp aims to build a supportive network of local teens who make positive decisions and to help teens gain leadership skills.

The camp will run from 9 a.m. Saturday, March 22, to 11:30 a.m. Sunday, March 23, at Recreation Unlimited located at 7700 Piper Road in Ashley. Campers will be led by youth staff leaders along with adult leaders from the community. Campers will participate in workshops and group bonding activities, plus take part in a dance with a DJ on Saturday night.

The camp is among several activities planned this year by the STAND UP Leadership Team, which is coordinated by the Delaware General Health District and Helpline of Delaware and Morrow counties. In addition to the Health District and Helpline, funding assistance was also provided by the office of Delaware County Prosecutor Carol O’Brien.

The STAND UP Leadership Team is a structured group of high school teens trained to serve as mentors and positive role models for their peers. By making positive choices and remaining tobacco, alcohol, other drug, and violence free, STAND UP teens create positive changes in their schools and communities.

The camp registration fee for Delaware County teens is $15. Meals and T-shirts will be provided.
