Council for Older Adults Begins Senior Farmers’ Market Voucher Distribution

The Coun­cil for Older Adults has begun dis­trib­ut­ing vouch­ers as part of the Senior Farm­ers’ Mar­ket Voucher Pro­gram. Now in its ninth year, the pro­gram pro­vides Delaware County res­i­dents age 60 and over with vouch­ers for fresh foods from farm­ers’ mar­kets in Delaware, Sun­bury and Pow­ell. he vouch­ers can be used to pur­chase fresh fruits and veg­gies, herbs, baked goods, honey, and even food-bearing plants.
Par­tic­i­pants who sign up before Sep­tem­ber 1 will receive twenty-five (25) vouch­ers with a total value of $50. Those who sign up after Sep­tem­ber 1 will receive fif­teen (15) vouch­ers with a total value of $30. All vouch­ers are valid through Octo­ber 31, but par­tic­i­pants will need to check with their farm­ers’ mar­ket to deter­mine how late in the sea­son each one will be open as mar­ket dates differ.
