Drummey presents five-year forecast

Dur­ing Mon­day evening’s Big Wal­nut Local School Dis­trict Board of Edu­ca­tion meet­ing, dis­trict trea­surer Feli­cia Drum­mey pre­sented the lat­est five-year fore­cast for board approval. Drum­mey described the five-year fore­cast as a man­age­ment tool, a way to iden­tify events that could occur, and also as a strate­gic plan­ning a device.

Four at Big Walnut HS National Merit Commended Students

The National Merit Schol­ar­ship Cor­po­ra­tion has named Big Wal­nut High School seniors Lind­sey Adams, Thomas Pend­ley, Lucas Miller and Nicole Wal­ters as Com­mended Stu­dents in the 2012–13 school year National Merit Schol­ar­ship Program.

BW Intermediate School opens its doors on Aug. 22

Last Wednes­day (August 22) was the first day of school for stu­dents liv­ing in the Big Wal­nut Local School Dis­trict. But for dis­trict fifth and sixth grade stu­dents it was more than the start of a new school year; it was the inau­gural day of the district’s new Big Wal­nut Inter­me­di­ate School.

Saturday’s Dos Festivals; two for the price of one

Last year, when Galena Sum­mer­fest chair Jane White and Sun­bury Siz­zle & Sounds event coor­di­na­tor Theresa Drons­field dis­cov­ered that their respec­tive fes­ti­vals, just down the road from each other, shared the same date, they put their heads together and decided to share plan­ning, pro­gram­ming and pro­mo­tion resources to enhance both events.
