Big Walnut, winning 11 of 14 weight classes, dominated the host Eagles 58-15 at the New Albany Super Tri held Thursday at New Albany High School. In their second match, the Golden Eagles dropped a 72-6 decision to Delaware Hayes.
Luke Moore’s grapplers posted 11 victories, five by falls against New Albany. Scoring falls were senior Austin Carr in 5 minutes, 31 seconds at 160 pounds, sophomore Drew Cochran in 0:55 seconds at 132 pounds, sophomore Nico Grier in 3:28 at 113 pounds, sophomore Jacob Hadden in 1:57 at 126 pounds and freshman Nate Helsley in 3:58 at 106 pounds.
Sophomore Wes Landrum (BW) scored a 16-3 major decision in the 120-pound weight class.
Decisions were scored by senior RJ Martin with an 8-6 OT victory at 138 pounds and by sophomore Anthony Pisano with a 5-3 win at 152 pounds.
Three Golden Eagles, sophomore Evan Watkins at 195, sophomore Tyler Hogg at 220 and senior Austin Crow at 285, were awarded forfeits.
In the loss to Hayes, Helsley was awarded a forfeit at 106 pounds.
