Seniors Austin Carr and Alec Eisnnicher led Big Walnut at the 8-team Watkins Memorial Wrestling Invitational held Saturday at Watkins MemorialHigh School in Pataskala. Carr won the 160-pound weight class with a pin in 2 minutes, 31 seconds. Eisnnicher was victorious in the 170-pound class with a 27-12 decision. As a team the Golden Eagles placed fifth with 150 points.
Marysville won the team championship with 209 points. Dublin Coffman was second with 196.5 points, host Watkins Memortial third with 174 points and Central Crossing fourth with 172.5 points.
RJ Martin, at 138 pounds, and Austin Crow, at 220 pounds, placed second in their respective weight classes. Nico Grier came in third in the 113-pound class. Evan Watkins also recorded a top four finish, placing fourth at 182 pounds.
Also placing for the Golden Eagles were Nate Helsley, Daniel Zitello and Tyler Hogg sixth in their respective 106, 182 and 220 weight classes; Matt Russell (113 pounds), Wes Landrum (120), Matt Halbakken (126) and Jack Schnurr (145) who placed seventh; and Jacob Hadden (126) who placed eighth.
Rounding out the team standings were Licking Valley in sixth place with 129.5 points followed by Reynoldsburg which placed seventh with 115.5 points and Morgan Local which finished eighth with 109 points.
