The Senior Citizen Appliance Pickup service is again available to older adult residents looking to rid themselves of any old appliances, televisions and computer equipment.

This Delaware General Health District (DGHD)’s Keep Delaware County Beautiful program is entering its tenth year and is funded in part by the Council for Older Adults (COA). The pickup service was developed to prevent injuries that could be sustained from lifting or falling while trying to move appliances or computer components.

During the last decade, the service has collected 1,711 appliances, 414 computers-peripherals and 174 televisions from 1,067 homes.

The DGHD contracts with a moving company to pick up large, bulky or heavy items from a resident’s home and deliver them to Sims Recycling. The service is free and available to all Delaware County residents age 60 and over.

For more information, contact Keep Delaware County Beautiful coordinator Jenifer Way-Young at 740-203-2076.
