LIMA — A man police believe is responsible for two robberies at a local pharmacy in the past month has been captured.

Keith Bryan Maidon, 46, was charged with aggravated robbery following his arrest Wednesday evening at 105 Glenary Drive. A bond hearing has not been scheduled but is expected to be in the next few days.

Both robberies occurred at the CVS Pharmacy at 900 Bellefontaine Ave. One was Tuesday when a man approached a 67-year-old woman in the parking lot to try to steal her purse, police reported.

During the robbery, the man used a hammer to strike the woman several times in the head. Employees from CVS intervened and stopped the attack, police reported.

The robber was unable to get the woman’s purse and ran from the area leaving the hammer behind, police reported.

The other robbery happened Nov. 7 when a man entered the pharmacy and demanded money. He said he had a gun and obtained an undisclosed amount of cash before fleeing the business, police reported.

Maidon does not have a recent violent record locally. He had a 2004 conviction for four counts of forgery and four counts of uttering, for which he was sentenced to four years in prison. The sentencing record said he previously served a prison sentence for another crime but did not give details.

He also had a burglary conviction in Putnam County in 2004, according to court records.

Maidon has a theft conviction at Lima Municipal Court as well as two drunken driving convictions and a possession of drugs conviction, according to records.
