The Golden Eagles are on a bit of a roll.
Big Walnut notched victories in its last two boys lacrosse starts, downing Marysville 9-5 on Friday, May 2 at Marysville after handing Columbus City Schools a 10-7 setback on Wednesday, April 30, at Sunbury.
Leading the Golden Eagles’ victory over the Monarchs were Jhordan Lang with 4 goals and Joey Schooley with 3 goals. Carter Marsch and Alex Alley checked in with a goal apiece. Sam Funston and Marsch were each credited with 2 assists while Schooley was credited with 1. Derek Herman turned away 19 shots on the Golden Eagle goal.
Chris Phillips paced the Marysville attack with 3 goals. Aaron Carpenter and Jacob Burge also scored for the Monarchs. Carpenter was credited with an assist.
In the Columbus City Schools match, Lang and Funston paced the Golden Eagle offense, Lang counting 6 goals and 4 assists while Funston followed with 4 goals and an assist. Marsch and Alley chipped in with 2 goals apiece with Marsch adding 2 assists. Matt Curtin also contributed a goal. Vaughn Firmalan and Schooley also contributed assists.
In the Big Walnut nets, Herman led the way with 4 saves. Alec Schnabel added 2 saves,
Scoring for CCS were Jake Brommer and Brendan Ryan with 2 goals apiece. Camden Hoffman, Reel Chaudhri and Isaac Keeno with a goal apiece.
